Thursdays @ 7: Padre Antonio Soler

Date of Event: Thursday, 2nd April 2020
7 - 8pm. Catalan composer, Soler, 1729-1783, composer, priest, monk, student, mathematician, teacher, inventor, and organist, spent his life serving both the Catholic Church and music. He left over 400 compositions and tonight we hear a few of those. There will be music for solo harpsichord, string ensemble, and voice, culminating in the haunting Easter-tide Stabat mater for two sopranos and strings. Shona McIntyre-Bull and Katharine Watts feature in this exquisite gem of a piece.
