Joanne Rutherford

Parish Administrator
Joanne was born in raised in Kelston. The family moved to Howick while she was in the sixth form. As Howick College at that time had no sixth form she boarded during the week and came home for weekends. She decided to study Accountancy at Manukau Technical Institute and after a full time year secured a position as a cadet at the Inland Revenue Department where she worked for nine years at Otahuhu, Henderson and Hamilton. While in Hamilton she met and married Stephen Rutherford and had their first daughter Michelle. She finished her New Zealand Diploma in Accountancy, and then she worked for Trust Bank Waikato as an Internal Auditor for two and half years before second daughter Julia arrived. When Julia was nine weeks old they moved to Auckland and settled in Howick.

In a rash moment in 2001 she thought, on the suggestion of a friend, that she might be able to run away from home and take on the role of Parish Administrative Assistant playing a key role in the Parish with office reception/public relations responsibilities, provision of secretarial services and administrative arrangements. She still types with two fingers but thoroughly enjoys her time in the job.
In another rash moment she agreed to stage manage for Shakespeare in the Park and now thoroughly enjoys being a Drama Queen in her spare time.
