Jemma Allen

Priest Associate Children, Young People and Families
Jemma is the priest who works with children, young people and their families. She was born in Amersham, England, and migrated with her family to New Zealand when she was six weeks old. She grew up in Feilding and went to Waikato University where she studied Anthropology and Women’s Studies.

She was selected, trained and ordained in the Diocese of Waikato and served in the parish of St Stephen’s, Tamahere and at the Cathedral of St Peter in Hamilton. She moved, with Andrew, to Auckland in 2000 and was Priest Assistant in the parish of All Saints, Ponsonby, for five years.

In 2005 Andrew and Jemma returned to the Diocese of Waikato where Jemma was the Ecumenical Chaplain at the University of Waikato. In 2010 she went to Beijing to serve as the Co-Pastor of the Congregation of the Good Shepherd, an English-speaking ecumenical congregation.

Jemma has trained as a spiritual director and is currently in the Masters of Counselling programme at the University of Auckland. She enjoys working with people of all ages to help them more fully experience the love of God. She has skills in supporting young people in times of difficulty, and in helping families express their faith in their day-to-day lives.
